FairyTails Pet Adoptions

Since 2015, Heather Carter has been working to achieve the mission of Fairy Tails Pet Adoptions to rescue, foster and adopt as many animals as they have the means to support. During that time, Fairy Tails has rescued and adopted approximately 2,000 animals.

“We started slow and have grown with volunteers support,” Heather says. “We have not only saved many animals but humans as well.”

One example that sticks out in Heather’s mind is a pair of dogs named Frank and Beans. She said that the animals had been severely abused and had scars all over their bodies, including some from their mouths being taped shut. After placing the dogs in a foster home for many months, Heather says “a very kind man visiting from New York who was here spreading Christmas joy as Santa” saw the story of Frank and Beans and adopted them.”

Running a pet adoption center is a lot of work and volunteers are needed to assist. One of the areas in which help is needed is with a K9 Training Class the organization holds on Wednesday evenings. They are also looking for people to provide temporary foster homes and folks to help out with adoption and fundraising events.

“On Wednesday nights we meet downtown at the Farmers Market Pavilion from 6 to 7:30,” Heather said. “Become a canine handler/dog walker. No experience is needed.”

Heather says that community is important to Fairy Tails.

“Our group loves our community and would not be as successful as we are without their support. We try to partner with small businesses within our community as well as other organizations to feature them [and] our pets for adoption.

“If you love dogs please join our passionate group! Whatever your superpower is, we are a no-pressure group that would love your help as you’re available in whatever capacity by offering your time and efforts.”
